Penalty after Penalty

April 19, 2008

This week was an English week in the Swiss Super League. Saturday 12th April FCSG played against YB. We won 2:0. But that we can’t win against both leaders of the Super League we prove against Basel. We lost 1:4. But that result doesn’t come up with the fight on the pitch. SG kept up with Basel. As always the games between Basel and St.Gallen are an extreme spectacle. This time I think the referee was the deciding factor. He had a lot of wrong or at least dubious decisions. But let’s start by the beginning:

The first goal was shot by Basel. The goal getter was the agile Portuguese Carlitos in the 10th Minute. Then there was a foul penalty for SG. Francisco Aguirre had been fouled by François Marque (32.). He wanted to shoot the penalty by himself – he struck. Aguirre didn’t score the penalties anymore the last time, but then the coach threw out Jürgen Gjasula and they had to choose a new one for this task.

A harmless touch of Marcos Gelabert to Eduardo gave a second penalty, this time for Basel. Referee Carlo Bertolini gave the penalty although it shouldn’t have been one – And these aren’t just the words of a true SG-supporter, every newspaper was the same opinion. Citation Sportaktuell: If that was a penalty, then there would be ten penalties in every football game. The problem is that we in Switzerland don’t really have many smart referees. There are so many mistakes by refs! Swedish centre back Majstorovic scored. A little time later Carlitos launched Eren Derdiyok, Swiss national player, with the heel which served the ball to David Degen. He scored the goal.

After half time SG tried to come closer with a goal, but they didn’t achieve one. Basel, however, struck one last goal in the 82th minute by Marko Perovic with a long distance kick.

That was the explosive home match. It was the third last game in our old stadium Espenmoos. There are just two games left. I think I have to watch the last two games live and I have to take some pictures. But of course more important is that we don’t have to play in the Challenge League as soon as the new stadium reaches us.

Preview: Today, 19th April 2008, 17:45 FC Luzern – FC St.Gallen

Boca won to hang high in the tournament

April 13, 2008

Boca main objective is the Libertadores Cup. The match players are thinking about is going to be held in a week. But In between, Boca has two local tournament matches. One of them held today versus Gimnasia (Jujuy).

It was important to win to keep up. While important men are recovering like Riquelme and “Negro” Ibarra, Boca must win to keep confident up. Boca’s defense is plain awful. It is still not defined the starting defense lineup and thats why Boca suffers behind. Players do not get used to play with each other, so disorganization is complete.

The important of winning while playing bad is valuable. And it is more valuable when Boca cant put their best men on the field because they are injured.

It is unbelievable that today Palacio couldnt score with the goal wide open! The same happend to Palermo vs. Atlas in Libertadores match. Those are goal that are scored “before” the ball crossed the line… But of course it is not valid till the ball crosses it!!! So pushing the ball inside seems an easy job.. Well.. Why dont you do it????? Damn! If Palermo would have scored that unbelievable missed easy goal, the match would have been different.

Luckly, today Palacio’s miss was not as important. Datolo, who is a very irregular player, scored 2 goals giving Boca the victory
for 2-1.

Worries do not leave Boca. Because Mauricio Caranta (Boca’s keeper) was substituted after he suffer from a nuisance in his leg. This is not the first time Caranta suffers an injury that is inexplicable.

Boca is on its way in local tournament and is reaching the decisive match against Maracaibo for Libertadores Cup in a fair way.
